I used to be a cynical metal nerd that was afraid to admit to myself that it’s ok to like music that isn’t some shitty, obscure metal band. Now I stay away from metal message boards, try to dress like a normal functional member of society, listen to what ever I want guilt free and don’t sweat on ppl that have different musical tastes than me. The air tastes a little sweeter now.  Life’s good bro

deraileddreams:

“A lot of metal heads are goddamn drama queens who do not respect any other’s opinion, and who force their opinion to someone else.. I’m tired of people bitching about ‘the wrong type of metal’. “

so real, and it totally applies to the hardcore scene as well, especially where it’s so powered by image and what band’s t-shirt you’re repping. it seems designed so that people automatically know exactly what kind of hardcore kid you are. “dude check out the guy in the xibalba shirt and terror gym shorts. i’m not really down with that tough guy beat-down shit, it’s meaningless and guaranteed that guy’s a dick.  it’s all about having meaningful lyrics about being depressed and unstimulated by your mediocre working class existence. that’s why i listen to touche amore and defeater.” for all you know the man works in a community garden with a passion for collecting tulip bulbs. or he could actually be a dick. but it’s not an assumption someone has the right to make off of a t-shirt. at least try n get to know the guy first.
